Karin Fleischer Signed Etching Hunenstein Not Just a Simple Stone. Listed German

A signed, limited edition aquatint etching by listed German artist Karin Fleischer b. It is a semi abstract study of a rounded stone which has veins of black and pink running through it, possibly a piece of pink granite.

It is resting on a dark surface that appears to be black quartz or similar. Inscribed with the title'Hunenstein' verso, I cannot find a direct translation but it seems to be something like megalith or monument. Also inscribed'coloured etching three plates' which means that this is a complex etching in which each colour has been hand printed from separate plates.

My title'more than just a stone' was the headline in a 2020 German newspaper article that pictured an etching from the same series - see final photograph (this is not included but can be found online). Impression number 15 of a small edition of 21. Signed and dated in the lower right margin,'K. In excellent condition and smartly presented in a very complementary wood frame oak? Glazed and ready to hang. Measures 29 x 37cm including the frame, the plate size is 18 x 24cm. Karin Fleischer is a printmaker, graphic and installation artist, born in Konigsberg.

She studied painting and printmaking at the University of Arts in Berlin, which led to a scholarship in printmaking with the Stadt Gallery and another to study at the Slade School in London under Antony Gross. She has exhibited extensively in Germany, also in the UK (including The Serpentine Gallery 1977), USA and Ireland. In 2010 and 2015 she was Artist in Residence at the Cill Railaig Project in Kerry. Examples of her work are held in a number of German institutions including the Centre of Science and Art in Berlin and the Museum of Cultural History in Osnabruck.

Her etchings usually depict natural objects in a style that invites individual imagination and interpretation.
