Beautiful quality Imanishi selected Ohira asagi tenjou. Quality bench stone suitable for knives and capable of finishing straight razors producing an extremely comfortable shaving edge. Excellent for knives without scratching the steel as would be the case with a harder stone. Sealed with cashew lacquer and of course lapped and ready to use.
Note the distinctive chisel marks on the back of the stone. Generally accepted that the miner of the stone paid particular interest recognising its quality. There are a lot of questionable stones for sale at the moment.. The quantity and the prices suggest otherwise..When you've been involved with this hobby as long as I have and owned as many whetstones you eventually get to know what's good and what's bad... If razors are your thing. These cheaper koppa stones are not the way to go and will spoil your experience of how good Jnats can be.
